- 1 block tofu diced
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup arrowroot
- 1 cup of chunky peanut butter
- 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
- 1/3 cup sweet chili ginger sauce
- 1/4 cup scallions chopped
- enough oil to fry tofu
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbs black sesame seeds for garnish
Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl mix flour, arrowroot, and a pinch of salt. Toss tofu with flour mixture being careful not to break up tofu. Let sit for 5 minutes and give it another toss. Add oil to frying pan and carefully place tofu in the pan. Once tofu is golden brown remove from pan and place on oven sheet pan. Bake tofu for 20 minutes or until crispy. Mix the peanut, teriyaki, and chili sauce in a food processor. Add hot water until mixture smooths out. Remove tofu from oven and drain excess oil. Toss with Thai peanut sauce, garnish with sesame seeds. Try this with soba noodles, and snow peas.

I'm not a peanut fan, but do like a nice Tofu dish. It looks yummy however especially the thought of serving soba noodles..
looks so glazed and attractive to eat!
Who doesn't love peanut sauce! Nice twist using teriyaki instead of soy and the Ginger People ginger chili sauce. Sounds delicious! Same goes for the Kicked Up texas Fries, very appealing.
I'm thinking tempeh could successfully be substituted for the tofu here. Intriguing recipe!
ANYTHING with peanut sauce is a winning dish - yum!
That tofu dish looks scrumptious! A great way to prepare that product...
Cheers,
Rosa
Wow, you got me very hungry. Very nice tofu recipe. I tried your Asian Tex tofu this weekend. It came out perfect. I had a hard time finding arrowroot, but it was great.

Thanks Erik,
I think that it is a great way for people to be recognized for blogging with a purpose.
Great blog you have here by the way, I enjoy cooking also. :)

I'm going to try this recipe, thanks! I've been making the one from the Hollyhock cookbook, but this one looks interesting too.
And thank you for including me in your Veg Heads blog carnival. Much appreciated!
Sounds delicious Erik. I love peanuts and also Japanese food so I would really enjoy this. The glazing makes it look really good too. Haven't heard of scallions before - don't think we have those over here. It's interesting reading your blog and seeing the various different ingredients you use over there in the States
great recipe ~ soba + snow peas are the best!
I love peanut sauce & tofu! Can't wait to try this one!

I am going to attempt this tomorrow. When you say "enough oil for frying," do you mean enough to grease the pan (somewhere between 1 tablespoon or 1/4 cup) or enough for the tofu to swim in (more than 1/4 cup)?
Thanks for the clarification on the oil.
I really like the technique for preparing the tofu. This is the first time I have fried tofu with any success (I had resigned myself to either searing or baking it). I think that you could easily serve this to people who don't normally eat tofu (or think they don't like tofu).
Because the snow peas in our local market were not looking so great, I added a little broccoli and some grated carrot. It's really good!
I love Thai flavors and the variety of peanut sauces. This looks much easier to prepare than I would have expected--I'll have to try this.
I was thinking of making a peanut sauce - this just maybe my recipe!
We would like to feature your thai peanut tofu on our blog. Please email haleyglasco@gmail.com if interested. Thanks :)
