Grassroots Natural Market

This is where I work. I've been the chef at Grassroots for 2 years. I've been cooking organic health food for 15 years and enjoy every moment. For me there's nothing more satisfying than cooking healthy food for people looking to better their lives.
Organic produce has made such a leap in the last 10 years. When I first started at my first health conscious eatery it was looked upon as something for hippies only. Now I see everything from athletes to big shot business folks chowing down on healthy eats.

At Grassroots we have something for everyone. Gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, raw foodies and carnivores. We do caterings for any size party from 4 to 200. We have a great variety of veggie juices, wheat grass, and coming soon a smoothie bar.
I love to cook food from many different cultures, specializing in Asian, Latin, and Italian. Our customers are very open to new and classic flavor profiles. If you're ever in Denville, NJ stop in and say hello.

This is my first time to your blog. I can see you have a real passion for what you do. I am gluten free and trying to go more and more organic - it was a bit challanging where I live but now even normal grocery stores are offering organic options so its getting better. I'll be back!

I am pretty new to the whole health food thing, and got into thinking that most health food is going to taste terrible. Well I am a frequent diner at the Grass Roots Market deli and Chef Erik has yet to let me down. I just need to make special note of the lunch that I had just the other day: I had a small serving of the pineapple tempeh, a side of fruit quinoa and to top that all off was a stuffed portabella mushroom, I believed it was stuffed with feta cheese and asparagus. The stuffed mushroom might have been my favorite thing that I have gotten at Grass Roots in my couple months of going there. With the Grass Roots deli I am never bored of my lunch anymore; there are new dishes that I am trying all the time. Thanks to Erik I have been able to broaden my horizon on not only health food but great food.

Hey Eric great stuff! It is nice to see a chef who tirelessly searches for new innovative ideas to bring to such a health conscious market. You are constantly concerned with the well being of your customers which is such a rare quality these days. It is obvious why your success keeps growing. Keep on that path and thank you.

erik your recipes are fine! Especially because there are many vegetarian choices WITHOUT SWEET SAUCES.
I'm lucky to be able to eat your good food at grassroots!
